specifics related to the City of Sparta and
Monroe County. Officers will be indoctrinated
into police problem solving and receive
training on the various weapons systems
maintained by the agency.
Advanced training in interview and
interrogations, breath examination, and speed
detection devices are just some of the courses
officers typically attend within the first year
of employment. After completing the 18 month
probationary period, officers can volunteer to
participate in several specialty assignments
including the Monroe County Combined Tactical
Unit (CTU), Bicycle Patrol Unit, Evidence
Technician, and K9 Handler to name a few.
The men and women of the Sparta Police
Department are highly motivated and devoted to
the community. The Department places an
emphasis on career development and balancing
individual desires with departmental needs.
This allows officers to obtain a great deal of
specialization within their desired field,
while meeting the overall goals and mission of
the
Department.
