MISSION STATEMENT

To promote an improved relationship between the Sparta Police Officers and the citizens they serve.

The purpose of the Sparta Police Department Citizens Police Academy (SPDCPA) is to educate the public in the requirements of Police Officer's in today's society.  The SPDCPA will also act as a training tool for the officers involved due to the close interaction of the officers and students of the SPDCPA.  This close interaction will foster an improved relationship between the officers and the public they serve. 

It is not the intention to the SPDCPA to train the public as Police Officers.  The information provided is only an overview of some of the requirements of the modern day officer.  Graduates from the SPDCPA will not be certified as police officers, and will have no formal arrest powers.
